  • USB cable
  • AC adapter
  • 2 NiMh rechargeable batteries (Sanyo Eneloop!)
  • Quick Start guide

Parrot AR.Drone

Call me obsolete, prehistoric… But I got so excited when I spotted this piece of gadget at Toy ‘R’ Us. There’s no way I can categorize this under ‘Toy’ since it’s selling at $449!

So what features does this quadricopter possess for it to deserve such a hefty price tag?

  • It can be controller by an iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad, using an application called ‘AR.FreeFlight’.
  • The drone’s ‘brain’  is powered by a ARM9 processor coupled with 128MB of DDR RAM running at 200MHz. OS is Linux!
  • There’s a wireless 802.11b/g antenna.
  • Armed with a front (640×480) and bottom (176×144) camera, a 3-axis accelerometer, a 2-axis gyrometer and a 1 axis yaw precision gyrometer.

This is definitely gonna be an AWESOME gift for (geeky) young adults! More info at http://ardrone.parrot.com/parrot-ar-drone/usa!
